THE DETAILS
all about mini sessions
Mini's are perfect for:
Families with young children who may not be able to last a whole session. This includes husbands who refuse to sit for a whole hour. Includes immediate family only, you can book two mini's together and get a couple combined shots though.
Couples (dating, engaged, married, or in between), wanting photos for holiday cards, save the dates, and so on!
Pet sessions can be good for updating just a few shots of your pets. Not for on location or cherished companion sessions.
Business owners looking for a few fresh headshot updates to keep things recent for their biz.
Maternity mama's can be a good fit for mini sessions, especially if they are just looking for pregnancy announcements, gender reveal, or just a few shots of their growing belly.
People who just don't have a lot of time to spare for a full photo session but really want to get their pictures updated.

Frequently Asked Questions
how many images will i receive?
Your mini session includes 10 high-res edited digital image downloads! This is the sweet spot for a 20 minute session, and we can get plenty of great moments in that time. You will have the option to buy more images if you want them!
what if i need to cancel or reschedule?
Upon booking your mini session, you are confirming that you're also available for the set rain date. There will not be an option for rescheduling on another date for your mini sessions. If we have to reschedule due to rain, and you're unable to make it for the new date, you are welcome to transfer your session to another party if you so choose. If not, you will forfeit your 25% non-refundable retainer payment.
who owns the copyright to the images?
As the photographer, I will retain the copyright to all my images taken at your session; however, you have access to your 10 final edited images and have the ability to download, share, and print the images for personal use!
can i request adjustments to the final images?
When you are hiring Janel Alexandra Photography, you are acknowledging that you have seen my work and editing style! So, if you choose to hire me, that means that you LOVE my style, know what to expect, and trust me fully! Because of this, I do not take edit requests and just ask that clients are fully aware of my editing style to avoid any surprises in your final gallery!
what is the final turnaround time for my images?
You can expect your images within 2-3 weeks from the session date. I will post a sneak peek before then, so you don't have to wait that long. Then I will be in touch once your gallery is finished so you can download and order and holiday cards in time!
can i pay the payment or a portion of the payment after the final gallery has been delivered?
No, I require all payments to be completed before the session. I’ve already divided your full package into two equal payments to alleviate one larger payment. The first payment is due at the time of signing your contract to lock in your time slot on my calendar, and the second payment is due 2 days before your session!
can i have the raw images?
I do not release the RAW files of my images for a few reasons! First, editing is half of the process and magic that goes into these images, and without it, the images are only halfway done. I want you to receive images that look and feel like my style. To ensure that I protect my art and brand, I only deliver images in the editing style that you hired me for. Also, RAW files are huge and not compatible with most standard computer programs – you may not even be able to open them if you’re unfamiliar with the format. I deliver high- resolution JPEG images that are easy to view, download, and print on any computer!
what do we wear for the photos?
I will be sending you an email to prepare for your session, so don’t you worry! I have Pinterest boards with outfit inspiration to help you look and feel amazing! The short answer, though – wear something that is comfortable and your style. Just be yourselves! Sticking to neutrals is usually a good option and always photographs nicely!
do you watermark your images?
I do not watermark my images, as I find they are distracting and unappealing. Although I appreciate their purpose, I’ve created these images for you and I want you to be able to use them, print them, and share them freely!
do you send proofs for me to go through and pick out my favs or do you make the selection?
After a session, I will go through all of the images and select and edit the very best ones! If I know you’ll love a picture, it’s going in the gallery! ;) You'll be able to choose your top 10 favorites and download them to keep. If you'd like to purchase more images, you're welcome to do so, as well!
can i provide you with a shot list for the session?
I don’t usually take shot requests or lists for sessions. I know that my couples trust me to capture them to the best of my ability. Often, if I am trying to capture certain shots on a list, I’m missing the real, candid moments happening right in front of me! Years from now, I think you will want to have images that represent your personalities, not images that won’t mean as much found on Pinterest!
