Wow, what a blessing these past five years have been since I started Janel Alexandra Photography. There are so many aspects of this business that have truly changed my life for the better. If you had told me six years ago I would be here today I would have told you that you were crazy.
Do you know those security questions they ask you to verify your account? Whenever they asked me what my dream job was I would always say, photographer. I thought it would be the coolest thing ever to just get to take beautiful pictures for a living. One day I just decided why can’t I do that? I started putting together a portfolio of pictures I had taken of my kids.
Next thing I knew I got a call asking me how much a session cost. My website wasn’t ready and I didn’t even have any pricing. I would tell you I was not ready for the task I was being asked to do. However, I was ready and I am so thankful that I was forced to just jump in headfirst. When I did my first session it really did give me that feeling I was dreaming I would feel.
I have learned so many things since that moment. I have learned how to run a business. That I can do hard things if I just buckle down and do them. I can have big dreams and they can really come true as well. I have met so many cool people and grown with customers who I now call friends. I got to take many different kinds of photos at sessions and I realized that I love adventure couple sessions the most. It combines my love of photographing couples and landscape photography. I have traveled and found cool locations that are out of this world.
So many opportunities have been afforded to me and I am just forever grateful that I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and really go for my dreams. I cannot imagine where I would be if I had not accepted the journey. I literally have no regrets and would do it all over again.
I want to call out to you today and challenge you to step outside of your box and own comfort zone. Really think about your dreams and what you want your life to look like. Make a goal and write out the steps to make those dreams come true. I believe in you and you should believe in yourself. Get down there and do the hard things because at the end of the day it really is so worth it.
